Notes: This superior small ornamental tree has beautiful reddish-purple foliage with bright red tips all summer long. One of the first trees to bloom in spring, it has fragrant pink flowers that are followed by purple 1" fruit. 'Newport' was introduced in 1923 by the University of Minnesota. Grows best in moist, well-drained soil.
