Updated as of January 19th, 2021.
Thank you for your interest in Thomsens Greenhouse and Garden Center. We are now seeking happy people, to work with other happy people and plants for our 2021 season. Voted “Best Of” six years straight is an indication of our team, and our customers! If you’re interested in any of the following positions, we’d love to hear from you!
You don’t have to be a plant expert to work with us, but a positive attitude expert is a must. We’ll train the rest.
These positions can range from part time to full time seasonal, dependent upon the needs of the candidate, and the business. The positions would begin in March or April continuing until early summer. If you are interested in being part of a team with the reputation as an industry benchmark, and are capable to contribute at that level, this may be the opportunity for you. 1. Greenhouse Production:
This is an active role, working with, and caring for plant material. It also includes
re-stocking plant inventory, moving it from the greenhouse to the retail space. You need
not be a plant expert, but rather someone who brings a positive attitude to work each day.
If you know something about plants, that’s great, we’ll teach you a lot more!
Daily shifts are 8am-4:30pm, with some weekend shifts required during April and May.
2. Retail Associate:
Beautiful plants, happy people, and a warm greenhouse are a few of the most rewarding
reasons to be a part of our team for the upcoming season. Thomsens Retail Associates are
integral to the customer experience; interacting with customer, providing assistance,
operating the register and light plant care/maintenance. A positive, healthy attitude is
a must. Plant knowledge helps too. Some evenings and weekends are required.
3. Gardener:
Love being outdoors, working in gardens, and interacting with clients? That is the summary
of our gardener position. Responsibilities involve carrying out planting, general
gardening, and consulting with clientele at their home or place of business. There is
tree & shrub planting required, however this is not landscaping. This position is highly
independent, and the individual must be extremely capable of effectively interacting with
clientele.
4. Outdoor Nursery
This role is largely outdoors during the season; planting, maintaining and selling trees
and shrubs. This means interacting with our guests, and delivering the Thomsens
experience. There is outdoor yard oversight, operating the skid steer (we can teach it if
you are willing to learn), loading guests with landscape mulch and rock. There is a
likelihood that some greenhouse production will also be involved. Typically, this role is
defined as full-time, seasonal, with some evening and weekend shifts, but does not have to
be given the right candidate. Tree and shrub knowledge is advantageous for this role.
