Notes: Excellent foliage retention during summer, and produces a true red-purple flower later than most crabapples. The disease resistant foliage starts out with a maroon tinge then matures to a dark green. The fruits are a dark purple-red and do not drop, but persist on the tree well into winter. Bark is a glossy, dark red with numerous prominent lenticels, adding long lasting winter interest.
