Notes: Minnesota Native. Aromatic, cool-season perennial. 10-24 inches tall, spreads about 2 feet per year. Because of its aggressive, rhizomatous nature pick a planting site with this in mind. Can be difficult to eliminate once established. Propagate by dividing them after a few years. Its natural habitat is wetlands, prairies, and savannas with wet to medium moisture. It will grow in almost any soil with at least half a day of sun. Sandy, well-drained sites will require mulch and watering. Add compost to soil. The preferred pH range is 6 to 8. Religiously significant to many Native Americans.
