Notes: Central Minnesota Native. Stands of sword-shaped leaves that fan our directly from the roots similar to iris or cattails. Green-yellow flowers in mid-summer. Berries in summer. They are called "sweet" because of the spicy, cinnamon-like scent of the leaves when broken. Does best with wet to damp feet. Leaf scorch will result if they get too dry. Spreads by rhizomes with dense root system that stabilize the soil. Excellent choice for pond edges and shorelines.
