Notes: Minnesota native. Pale Purple Coneflower is a carefree plant when grown in well-drained soil. It has a taproot that once established is extremely drought-tolerant but may rot in soil that is kept constantly wet. It blooms in early summer to fill that gap when fewer sun loving plants are in bloom. Provides nectar for hummingbirds and butterflies, and the leaves provide food for the Ottoe-skipper larva. Combine with Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), which starts blooming just as Pale Purple Coneflower for many, many weeks of Echinacea blooms.
